Catalog Description

Direct instruction, practice, and support in using technology as a tool in an educational setting, designed to prepare potential secondary teachers with the basic skills and knowledge necessary to use technology. Note: May be taken prior to or concurrently with first semester enrollment in the Single Subject Credential program.

Course Description & Objectives

EDTE 331 is designed to support students in developing technology skills and knowledge that are important for teachers to successfully use computer-based technology for teaching and learning. An assessment is initially given to students to assess their technology skills and knowledge. The results of the assessment are used to determine individual levels of technology related educational needs. Additionally, the assessment provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate technology knowledge and skills that meet Technology Standards established and required by the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.  Based on the results of the assessment, instruction and support are provided in the form of one-on-one help, whole class instruction and independent work/study with the support of online educational resources.
